About Us
The Alex Wambura Foundation was named in honor of my grandfather, Alex Wambura, who dedicated his life to serving his community in Isebania, Kenya. Inspired by his legacy of compassion and impact, the foundation continues his vision by empowering the next generation through education and opportunity.
Too many students in rural Kenya attend schools that lack books, desks, and basic resources, while older youth struggle to find pathways into employment. Families are left behind, and communities are trapped in cycles of poverty.
We exist to change that.
Our mission is twofold:
Bridging the School Quality Gap – equipping public schools with essential supplies, mentorship, and offline digital learning tools.
Vocational Training for Employment – preparing young adults (ages 18–35) with skills in high-demand sectors like agriculture, construction, electrical, and technology.
In August 2025, we are launching our first pilot program in Isebania, Kenya, supporting low-income students with school supplies and associated costs of education, all while documenting their stories. This pilot will serve as a proof of concept, guiding our long-term vision of building stronger schools and vocational pathways across Kenya.
The Alex Wambura Foundation stands at the intersection of education and opportunity, carrying forward a legacy of service while building models that can be scaled nationwide.
Our Mission Statement
“Our mission is to bridge the education gap in rural Kenya by equipping public schools with essential resources and empowering young adults with vocational training, creating pathways from the classroom to meaningful employment.”
Our Leadership
-
Founder
At just 17 years old, Alex Wambura founded the Alex Wambura Foundation with a vision to transform education access for underserved communities in Kenya. Inspired by his late grandfather’s legacy of community service, Alex is determined to bridge the quality gap in public education by ensuring every child has access to desks, books, digital learning tools, and mentorship.
Beyond the foundation, Alex is also the founder of the ITSO Foundation, which supports immigrant middle school families in the United States, and he has built multiple youth-led businesses focused on sustainability, investment, and social good. His long-term aspiration is to become a global social impact entrepreneur and finance leader, using business as a tool to solve systemic inequities.
